Nick Sun

BIOGRAPHY Born into a Himalayan Circus family who illegally immigrated to Australia in the 1970's, Nick burst onto the scene in 2004 after winning both JJJ RAW Comedy and UK's highly esteemed New Act competition, 'So You Think You're Funny', a feat that has not been repeated by anyone else since. In 2006 he followed this up with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival's Director's Festival choice award for his show, 'Blood on the yolks in the Key of Owls.' Nick then spent the next 10 years travelling the world continuously, honing his craft and developing his idiosyncratic style, extensively touring America, Canada, Hong Kong, South East Asia, Europe, Scandinavia, United Kingdom and of course Australia, making him a truly international comedian. Then in 2015, he drank Ayahuasca and went through a healing crisis. Realising he had some serious demons to deal with, Nick quit standup to embark on a seven-year deep dive into the world of healing, and began training and working as a shamanic healer for the next seven years. In 2023 he was called to return back to standup comedy and is currently in the process of developing a solo show, as well as publishing his first book, ‘No Mo Trippin’ which is about his time working as a shamanic healer. Nick is a favourite amongst top comedian’s comedians. He has supported Marc Maron, toured with Doug Stanhope and his 2010 Edinburgh Fringe show ‘Dreamfist’ was personally recommended by Daniel Kitson. His stream-of-conciousness style combines confessional anecdotes, satirical social commentary, tasteless cheapshots, sprinkled with liberal doses of absurdity. Combined with his unique, charismatic stage presence, Nick is a truly original, cliche-free comedian like no other working in the industry today.
